So much for September, Hello October

Wow, it's October 7th today. Erin has been in school for a month already! It's been a while, so I thought I would catch up. I know it's ridiculously early right now. Erin was talking in her sleep and it woke me up - I still wake up most times when I hear her through the night!

So Gord made it home from trip one safe and sound and quickly headed off for trip 2! He's back from that one now too and getting readjusted to the time change! He said it's amazing what just 3 hours can do to you!!!

It was a hectic week for Erin and I while Gord was away. The Sunday he left, Erin and I picked up Emily and headed into Ottawa for a bit of shopping and a visit with Aunt Elaine. The visit included a swim in the indoor pool at Aunt Elaine's too!!! Erin had her last swim in our pool on September 26th. We had a visit from Aunt Dee, so of course Erin had to show off her fabulous swimming skills! All in all I think we had a great first pool season. It would have been nice to have a warmer summer, but thank heavens for propane!!! Erin and I are going to get a swimming pass to an indoor pool close to home and keep up the swimming for the winter.

After Erin, Emily, and I got back from Ottawa, we had dinner at our place - I had Emily invite her dad over, since it was just going to be the two of them and the two of us. Erin and Emily had a bunch of fun running around outside in the dusk / dark taking pictures. I'll post some of them in a minute!!

On Tuesday, Erin and I ventured in to Brockville. Toopy and Binou were doing a live show at the mall in Brockville. I swear that is the busiest I have ever seen the parking lot at that mall!! It was a cute show and Erin enjoyed herself. We went to Wendy's for dinner and Erin was happy as a clam!

Thursday was Sparks night for Erin. She absolutely loves it! They were doing some planning for the big '100 Tent Event' that took place in the village over this past weekend. It was an event that marked the 100th anniversary of scouting in Merrickville. The girl troups were invited to take part in the festivities. More of that weekend to follow shortly!

Friday Erin and I were off. We slept in (ahhhh heaven......) and then headed in to Brockville to see Beverly Hills Chihuahua. I know, I know...... actually it was pretty cute. Erin liked the movie, except for the scary dog. She was pretty tired though and hit a serious cranky on the way home. Luckily she fell asleep in the car shortly after we left Brockville and the short nap seemed to help her disposition.

Gord made it home late Friday. Of course Erin and I had crashed already, so we didn't actually see him until Saturday morning! We had to get Erin off to the 100 Tent event for 9:00am that morning. They had quite a jam packed day for the kids. We didn't pick her up until 8:30pm that night!!!! The did crafts, a hike, went for a canoe ride, had a bouncy castle, ate outside, sang songs, did crafts, had a camp fire... a full day! Erin was in marvellous humour when we picked her up that evening, and crashed almost immediately when her head hit the pillow!! The day without Erin was of course quiet. Gord helped out at the skeet club with an event they had going on and I had a chance to run a few errands in Ottawa by myself, including stopping in to have a coffee with Jo!

Sunday morning came with a fury to drag Erin up and back into the 100 Tent event for the big parade. I wasn't going to stay for it, but am glad I did. All of the kids participating in the weekend were in a parade through the village and there was a really nice ceremony. Both Andreas and Uncle Alex were awarded special scouting awards, so it was nice to see that. There was a show put on by the OPP Golden Helmets precision motorcycle team that was excellent. Erin and I decided to pop by to see Aunt Patricia and Bill for a coffee, then headed home for the afternoon.

So we have put a routine Monday in the books for all and we are starting what appears to be a routine Tuesday for all. Tomorrow I have to attend a career fair at one of the Ottawa universities, and Thursday is Sparks for Erin. Friday is school for Erin and most exciting of all, the day we leave for Disney World! We fly out Friday night and are just staying at the airport before heading over to the resort. This is a special trip marking all of our milestone birthdays this year. Jo, Chris and the boys are coming as well which will make it even more special! I'll have some special trip reports when we get back!
