Vampires

Wow, it's been a while, huh....

Here's the updates:

Gord - still on two feet, one of which is still troublesome from time to time, but getting stronger every day!

Kim - still having a ball working on glass stuff and trying to forget about the yucky part of being in HR during a restructuring process.

Erin - is wonderful and BUSY as usual!

Erin and I have started our Friday's off thing again this summer and it couldn't have come at a better time! Erin has been busy playing with the neighbour gals and her friends at daycare. We had Emma and Erika over for a sleepover a week ago Thursday, and had a hoot! The pictures don't do the day complete justice!!!! The girls swam, watched movies, we went to Michael's for some craft kits - they made stepping stones that are just amazing!!!! - we had a bonfire, did more swimming, whew! The girls were not near as tired as I was hoping! They went to bed some time around 11:30pm or close to midnight, and were up before 7am..... yikes! Oh well, it's summer and it's fun! Erin has also spent time with Amy, helping to paint a rock garden, and she has also helped pick berries with Emma and Erika. Just what summer should be! Except for the sun in our case..... (insert serious grumbling here......)
We have a pretty quiet weekend ahead of us, which is nice. Monday, Erin has been invited to a special birthday day for Erika in Ottawa. The girls are going to enjoy the kids spa and lunch out, followed by a photo shoot at Richinda's. I imagine there will be no living with the girls after Monday!!! On Friday, I have to go into work so Emily is coming over to babysit for the day. It should be fun for both of the girls!!! Then we are on holidays for a week!!! YEAH!!!! Mind you I have to go into work one day - sigh - but such is life.
Congratulations go out to Patricia, Ashley, and Malcolm, all of whom will be welcoming a new baby to the family later this year!!! Patricia, just say the word and I'll join you in oohing and ahhing over baby stuff!!!
Oh yeah.... I guess you are by now wondering why the title of this post is "Vampires". Well, it is my favourite recent quote from Miss Erin:
"Mummy, did you know there are a lot of players on a baseball team? There's the guy who throws the ball, one to hit, one to catch, others in the field that stand around, and then there's the vampire." OMG!! Priceless........

I love summer.......

Our Sunday was full of fun! Erin and I went and had breakfast at the Goose with some of our neighbours, then came home so Erin could chill out (I had to drag her out of bed at 8:15am for breakfast at 8:30am!!!) and I could finish tidying up from the bbq yesterday. Erin decided to spend the afternoon playing with Emma and Erika while Dee and I headed to the market. We had another great day - I love the market!! Aunt Allison, Douglas, Alex, and Andreas came over for dinner and a swim. The kids had a ball, we dined on leftovers, and topped the evening off with another fire in the firepit. I love summer!!!

Happy Canada Day (Belated!)

Happy July and Happy belated Canada Day!
The week that just passed was one full of fun and one that sucked. It sucked because I found out definitively that I will be losing my job by the end of the year. Not much I can do about it, but take my time and find something else fun to do that's close to home. I'm not overly worried at this point. I'm sure something will turn up when the time is right.
Well away from the crappy stuff......
This was a short week for us as Canada Day interjected a holiday in the middle of the week for everyone, and Erin and I took the opportunity to make a long, long weekend of it by taking Thursday and Friday off as well! Canada was spectacular! Dee and I spent the afternoon at the Canada Day celebrations in Oxford Mills selling our fabulous glass jewelry!! We actually had a great day! The weather was wonderful to boot! Gord and Erin took in some of the Canada celebrations in Merrickville, did lunch, and had ice cream! Fun! When I got home, Erin and I jumped into the pool for a couple of hours to cool off and enjoy the evening while Gord went skeet shooting for a bit.
Thursday and Friday were both pretty rainy days, but Erin and I did some running around in preparation for the bbq we were hosting on the weekend (today in fact!). Our nephew John spent the night with us Friday and was a big help getting stuff ready on Saturday morning.
We had a great day! The weather cooperated with us in terms of not raining, but boy oh boy, was it ever cool! Imagine, wearing fleece jackets in July! Crazy! It certainly didn't deter the kids who had a blast in the pool! Of course Gord heated the pool to 90 degrees F, so it's no wonder the kids stayed in for much of the day! We had some good food, drinks, and lots of laughs. The sun finally decided to show up late in the afternoon. At that point we decided to move the party to the back of the house where Gord started a bonfire. We broke out the marshmallows and everyone made s'mores! The mosquitos finally broke up the party around 10pm, and Erin crashed about 30 seconds after the last of the group headed home for the night!
Not too much is planned for tomorrow. Gord's sister Allison came down for the bbq, and will christen her new shot gun at the skeet shooting club tomorrow. I think Erin and I will join Richinda and the girls for breakfast in the morning, and Erin may join them for church. I'll finish cleaning up the house and get ready for the market. Allison is joining us for dinner later in the day to help us finish up leftovers from today!
The week will start up again and I'll be back to work and Erin back to daycare. One nice thing is that I'll be back to working 4-day weeks through the summer, so Erin and I will be off Fridays again starting this coming week. Yeah!!!
Anyway, I am falling asleep so I'll sign off.
