September slips on by

A rare mid-week post from me.....

I am working from home today and for the rest of the week. It has been pretty hectic with Gord away up north and me running the show at home. Combine that with my just plain feeling run down because of these darn allergies of mine, and it's made for a pretty draining week! Erin has been wonderful though. She has been helping out and has just been a gem - playing on her own while I'm doing work, helping tidy up, helping set the table, and best of all with little or no whining!!!

I see I haven't posted since Erin's kids birthday party, so I'll try to recap the highlights.

The Sunday after Erin's party, we were invited for dinner at Aunt Rita's and Uncle Andrew's. OMG, I can't believe we let Andrew's birthday go by without a second thought!!! It was great of them to invite us though - Erin is never one to turn down chocolate cake. I do think she was disappointed that Uncle Andrew didn't want candles on his cake!!!

I had to go to Ajax for the day on Tuesday. We had to be there for 9:00am, which meant dragging myself up before 5:00am so I could get to work before 6:00am, which was the time we were leaving! Yikes! I did insist on stopping for a coffee at Tim's on the way though. We were only 10 minutes late (thanks to the stop at Tims!!) so all in all pretty good! I didn't get home until shortly after 8:00pm, so it was a LOOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGG day!

Speaking of long days, Gord met up with Andrew and Alex at the ungodly hour of 2:00am ish on Thursday morning to head up north to Douglas' fishing camp for the week. They drove to Thunder Bay - arriving around 8:00pm, so that's a lot of driving!!! They were up in Pickle Lake (read end of the northern Ontario roads) the next afternoon after another 8 hours of driving. Thursday night brought Erin's first Sparks meeting. She has been giddily excited about joining Sparks for some time now and she could barely contain herself when we arrived! They sang songs and played and coloured. I think she will have a ball with this!

The weekend saw Erin and I go into Brockville. I was invited to an open house for a friend of mine who sells Home and Garden goods. She had some great deals on, so Erin and I popped in and picked up a few goodies for the house. We did a bit more shopping, had lunch, then grabbed Starbucks on the way home. Then we went swimming!! Yup!! Imagine, on September 20th, Erin and I swam our little hearts out for about 3 hours!!! We had a ball! The weather was pretty nice, but it did take the pool a while to heat up!

Sunday we went to a new indoor playground that opened in Kemptville - My Cheeky Monkeys (http://www.mycheekymonkeys.ca/) and Erin played for a few hours. I had coffee and perused some magazines! Very relaxing for me and fun for her! After that, we stopped at the farmers market and picked up some corn, bread, and plums! We had a nice dinner and both of us nodded off early!

Monday was back to the routine for us - Erin in school and work for me. Monday evening, we picked up Girl Guide cookies to sell! We sold one full box (12 boxes in total) in about 30 minutes - thank heavens for family!!!! I have the other box at work, with sales being steady!!!

Tuesday was a long and busy day at work for me and I didn't pick Erin up until just before 6:00pm. I hate when I do that..... she was no worse for wear - she loves the Nursery School!! We both nodded off pretty early after a late dinner too - I think I fell asleep before her!

So we are now up to today. Erin is at school now and Sammy and I are heading to pick her up in a few minutes. I have been heating the pool up today too, as I promised her we could go for a swim after school - yup, swimming on September 24th!!!! Gotta love it!!

Gord should be home tomorrow afternoon. He has to head off again early Sunday morning - going to Victoria for business, which means another mum and Erin week again!!

Enjoy the pics of Erin in her fancy new western clothes from Aunt Allison!!!

The Kids Birthday Party

We ended the 'week of birthdays' off in style, hosting 14 kids for a big pool party birthday bash for Erin!! We were blessed with a great day of weather - the sun even came out from time to time and it was warm!! We had a 'Hula Girl' party and the kids just had a ball swimming in the pool - in fact it was tough to convince them to come out for some lunch!!! Others had fun on the trampoline. What a great bunch of kids! Erin was very fortunate to receive such thoughtful gifts from such generous friends! All in all a terrific day. I think the pics say it all!

Spencerville Fair

We spent Friday at the Spencerville Fair. Neither Gord or I have ever been there (not surprising about me, but very for Gord!!). We went with Richinda, Jamie, Emma, and Erika and had a great day. We were very lucky to borrow Anestasia's trailer and Uncle Alex's truck (thank you again!!!) for the day and we brought Charlie and Emma and Erika brought Siren. Erin was entered in 2 classes this time - the costume class - Emma and Erika won a 4th place ribbon - and in the lead line class - Erin placed 5th overall and has a nice new fancy green ribbon!! She was so excited when they called her number and name and her cheering squad (consisting of the above, and Aunt Eleanor and Anestasia) cheered loudly for her!! Erika won a 3rd place ribbon too! It was a great day because each of the girls had a ribbon! Plus, the rain mostly held off for us too! What a great fair that is! We didn't spend too much time there, but what we saw was really neat. It is a real agricultural fair, like Merrickville Fair used to be. I guess they all have to do what sells best, but I was pretty impressed. We will definitely hit that show again next year!

FIVE

Erin, 5 years ago today... my hasn't she come a long way!!!!

Happy Birthday dear Erin.....

Sigh..... my baby is five today. I can hardly believe it!

We had a lovely family party on Sunday afternoon. Despite the weather not cooperating, Erin, Emma, and Erika still managed to spend a couple of hours in the pool! Thank goodness for the pool heater!

Tonight we enjoyed a nice dinner, just the three of us, topped off by a nice, excessively full of icing cake!! Next Saturday is the kids day... should be fun!!!

Enjoy the Erin 'Hannah Montana' pics!!!
