Off to Disney World!!

Erin went to school as normal today while I ran last minute errands (a ton of them!!). Gord got home around 2:30pm, we finished packing, loaded up the car, and off we went to pick up Erin from school.

We headed into Ottawa to the airport right away because we wanted to make sure we had no trouble getting seats together on the plane, which we did. The first leg of our trip was the only one I wasn't able to make advance seat selection for. On the way to the airport, I read Erin's early interim report card to everyone in the car. She had 'excellent' in every category! We are very proud of Erin, needless to say!!

We got settled at the airport after checking in, checking bags, going through security, going through customs (exhausting.....) and shortly aftwerward we were joined by Jo, Chris, Aidan, and Cole. Below is a couple of pictures of the trio just before flying out!!

Our plane took off almost right on time and we were off to our first stop, Washington DC. We arrived a bit early, so we had to wait about 20 minutes before we could get into our gate. There was another plane at our gate!! We didn't have too long a wait in Washington. The kids were great, but it was pretty late and the bunch of us were getting pretty tired. Seating is pretty limited at Dulles airport - at least the terminal we were in - so we all just got comfy on the floor complete with cozy lovable stuffies!!

Like I said, the layover was not long in Washington and before long we loaded on to the next plane destined for Orlando. I had upgraded our seats, so we had extra legroom seats. I figured it was worth a few extra bucks because I knew Erin would fall asleep and we may as well be as comfortable as possible with a 5-year old stretched out across us on the tin bus in the sky!! Erin fell asleep almost right away. We arrived in Orlando on-time and it wasn't too long to collect our luggage. We decided to stay at the Hyatt hotel right at the airport, so once we got our bags, it was just a short walk to the hotel. Jo, Chris and company stayed at another hotel, so we made our arrangments to meet back at the airport the next morning - or rather later that morning since it was after midnight by this time!! Check in was a bit of a mix up as they did not have our reservation on file. I had prepaid with Expedia, so I gave them my confirmation information and they quickly found us a room and we were all asleep shortly after 12:30am. Of course Erin had to get some ice first....
The next morning I called Expedia to make sure there would be no problems when we checked out. They assured me there would be none, and sure enough they were right! Check out was simple and we were off to get registered for Magical Express to Disney at 9:45am!!!
