A week of milestones is almost over....

It is Thursday night. Erin is splashing around in the bathtub and I have just finished some cleaning up. I cannot believe how many times I have picked up the same things! It must be in the thousands!!!

So our week of milestones is nearly over and all of us have survived nicely! Erin turned 4 and started school. She now has 2 days of school in the book and is extremely pleased with being a 'big kid'. She flat out refuses to allow anyone to carry her backpack anymore. When I picked her up at daycare this afternoon, she told me - with attitude I might add (haha!!) - "Mummy, I am perfectly able to carry my own backpack. After all, I'm 4 already and that makes me a big kid'. I thought her teacher was going to choke on her water she laughed so hard. Gord and I are in trouble, aren't we......

Gord, his brother Andrew and brother-in-law Alex should have arrived in Thunder Bay by now. Gord was supposed to wake up at 1:00am this morning in order to get over to Alexs' where they were all leaving together at 2:00am this morning. I am always amazed at a man's ability to wake up for something like this when they don't wake up for the smoke detector! Anyway, Gord is pretty lucky I woke up to use the washroom this morning at 2:30am so that I could wake him up!!! Wow, did he move fast as he mumbled that Alex was going to have his head!!! Andrew called at 2:45am looking for him! I'll have to ask how that went when he calls tonight!!!!

So it's just Erin and I for the next week and a half. I have to go to work tomorrow, so Erin will be joining her pals at daycare for the day, which suits her just fine. I have promised her a morning shopping on Saturday. She was very lucky to have received some money from Aunt Patricia, and a couple of gift cards from Aunt Eleanor and family for Build-A-Bear and Mrs. Tiggywinkle's so I'm sure she will have fun picking out wonderful things!! Sunday we are going to join Richinda, Emma, and Erika at the Apple Festival at Kilmarnock Orchard. I love things like that especially with Erin who always has a great time at the local festivals and socials.

Well, I guess that's it for now. I'll bring the camera on Sunday. I better fetch my little prune out of the tub and get her ready for bed.

A big exciting day is in the books!!!

This is one tired JK kid!! Sweet dreams!!
Can you believe she is mad that she can't go to school tomorrow? Yes, that means she had a wonderful day! Her teacher told me there was only a couple of minutes of a bit of a show, then she was bouncing around having loads of fun! She had time in the gym, recess with Erika - who by the way has taught her that if you don't look at boys, they won't chase you!!! And so it starts! A new chapter in my baby's life. I couldn't be more proud and happy if I tried!!

Sigh..... The 1st Day of School

Well, it is officially here, Erin's first day of school. She has been there for over an hour now and I have finally stopped crying!! She was amazing this morning! Of course there was a big welcoming committee of Amy, Emma, Erika, and her cousin Andreas there to meet her. She also knew a couple of the kids in her class from daycare. She had a couple of little 'Mummy, I want to stay with you' phrases at me, but no big tears. She took her backpack - which looks 1/2 the size of her little body!! - and in she went. I kept up a brave face (with the help of my sunglasses!!) until I watched her go in with all of the other little ones starting on their new adventure as well - then the floodgates opened. It's a strange selfish feeling of being so proud of her yet so overwhelmed that she is starting school already. There has just been too many milestones reached in too short a period of time!!! Anyway, here are a couple of pics of my big girl going off to school. Enjoy!! I'll fill everyone in on how the day went tonight.

A new Olympic spectator sport?????

Can't you see this in Whistler? Hummer pulling sled? Well, maybe there should be snow, and I'm not sure a lamb would stay in the sled.....

Sigh... I could not convince her to get out of her pj's today......

Just like that..... it's September

The whirlwind that is life has swept another week away. it is officially September now, and so far the weather is wonderful! September brings some wonderful things in my little family's life:

On September 8th, our baby, turns 4. I can hardly believe it. Every day she grows more and more independent, knowlegeable, and sweeter (well, most days anyways!!).

On September 10th, Erin officially starts Junior Kindergarten. I'm trying to imagine who is going to take it harder, her or me. I am nothing but excited for her, and she is the same way, but even as I type this, I feel tears welling in my eyes thinking that yet another chapter is closing in her life and new exciting one is beginning. The tears are both happy and sad. Sad because I know Erin will only get more and more independent and need me less and less, but much more happy because she will now get to start exploring the world in a whole new way. I'm sure the day will be harder on me, bar none!!

The week that past us by was fairly uneventful. We celebrated Emily's 16th birthday (I can only imagine how Rita and Andrew feel about that!!) on Sunday, and the start of the week swept me away to Kingston for business, and of course a bit of shopping for Miss Erin!!! This meant a big week for Daddy and Erin. I was so happy to see her on Wednesday night though. I miss her so much when I don't get to tuck her in to bed at night. Friday we picked up Emily who babysat while I did some work from home for a few hours, then the three of us headed into Ottawa for some final before school shopping. I let Erin pick out most of her things, and I knew I was in trouble when the woman at the cash at Old Navy told her she had good taste and was a pro-shopper. Erin told her she liked to spend Mummy's money!!! Sigh......

Yesterday we took a day trip to Watertown. Gord wanted to pick up some waders before he heads up north for moose hunting. He has not been for a few years, so he is really looking forward to it. I as usualy hope he and his brothers and brother-in-law have a great time, but come home with nothing!!! I found a great pair of shoes for Erin, and a little zipped fleece jacket, so she is pretty much set now. It was pretty buys crossing the border into the US, but quiet coming back into Canada. It was a long day, but we all had a good time.

Today we have just been playing with playdoh (she loves the stuff - too much and way more than I like cleaning it up!!) and making curly pieces of paper, along with watching Dora the Explorer. We are off tomorrow as well and I suspect the day will be spent working on the basement renovations. One wall is down and a couple of others are coming out soon. We picked up the entry way flooring last weekend - some fabulous marble tiles! Very exciting!

Well, I am going to sign off. I'll put up a post after the birthday bash next weekend, and promise to include lots of pictures!

Until next time....
