The last official long weekend of summer 2006...

Ah, Saturday afternoon on Labour Day weekend. Gord and Erin are outside working on Minnie's electric fence before the rain sets in and I have been puttering around for much of the day. It's one week and counting until Erin's big birthday party. I still can't believe she is going to be 3-years old on Friday. I can still remember driving to the hospital September 8th, 2003 in the early morning for my c-section - fortuitous for the planner in me!! And now she's going to be 3. Everyone told me that the time flies, and they are right.

We are going to have a small celebration on Friday evening - her actual birthday - just Erin, Gord and I and a special treat, North Bay Grandpa is coming down! I have just put together the menu for the bigger party on Saturday afternoon. Anyone who has been out to my place for any sort of shin-dig, knows that I will make too much. Sigh..... I can't seem to help myself! At any rate, we always try to keep the parties small, but we still end up with 30+ guests!! Oh well. Erin will have a ball as she always does!

The past week was pretty uneventful as it were. Erin is all registered for her next round of swimming lessons and is now registered for a season of gymnastics. We'll see how that goes. Everyone who sees her always asks me if she is in gymnastics, so when I asked her if she wanted to try it or go back to dance lessons, she gleefully said "gymnastics"!! I went in and had a visit with some of my pals from my old workplace on Thursday night. It was great to see them. I was very lucky (and continue to be so) to have had my path in life cross with those of so many wonderful people. Seeing them reminds me how much I really miss them. Thank goodness for modern communication tools!!

We really have no plans for this weekend at all. It is supposed to start raining anytime now and not stop until Monday. I can't really complain though. It's supposed to be the remnants from Hurricane Ernesto. At least we are only getting hurricane remnants and don't have to be faced with the full force of any of them. Oh, I spoke too soon because it just started to rain and speaking of hurricanes, here comes 'Hurricane Erin'!!!

Well, I'll post some birthday party pics next Sunday sometime, so until next week, have a great one everyone!!
