Well into February

We are now deeply entrenched into February. We have had quite a ride weather-wise for our first full week of February, but we still have no where near the amount of snow we had before Christmas!

It's been a couple of weeks since I last checked in. It always seems to be strangely quiet in the months of January and February. I think it must be some kind of mental and or / physical hangover from a busy holiday season in December! The same can be said for us. Things have been pretty quiet from an activities perspective and that is okay with us.

Erin has been gearing up for Valentine's Day, so the house is covered with little bits of pink and red paper from all of her crafts! This girl loves her crafts and art! Erin celebrated the 100th day of school yesterday - how hard is that to believe - although it is for the school as a whole, she has obviously not gone to school for 100 days! I guess they had special stories and math activities, according to Miss Erin. Her reading continues to improve too. She gets so excited coming home with a new book and reading it to us. She has been working on sounding out hard words and is doing pretty well! She is getting quite a list of words she can spell on her own now. A little mind is really an amazing sponge!! Erin is very excited for her upcoming Valentine's Day parties - one at school on Wednesday and one at the daycare on Thursday. This weekend we will spend making cards for all of her friends! More red and pink bits of paper everywhere.....!!!!!

Last weekend we had a visit from Aunt Elaine. Erin has a ball when she comes. Elaine is very patient with Erin and really induldges her every whim of playing and silliness! I think they both enjoy each other's company greatly!

Work has been beyond busy for me lately and will continue to be so through May. Erin has been a good sport in having to go to daycare on the Fridays when she does not have school. We are very lucky to have a happy, social, and agreeable (most of the time!!) little girl. I will be happy to have Fridays off again come May though!!

There were a couple of special birthdays last week:

Douglas (Allison's oldest son) and Aidan. Happy Birthday!!!

We have nothing special planned this weekend - just some tidying up, groceries, you know, the usual. In a couple of weeks, Gord is going skiing with Chris, so we will look at doing something with Jo, Aidan, and Cole.

We are also on the countdown to our trip to Dominican - 33 days and counting!!!

Until next time, enjoy the pictures - including the one of our little groundhog, who tells us she saw her shadow.... drat, 6 more weeks of winter!!!!
