May

Well, once again I sit back amazed that another entire month has passed by. We are firmly into the 5th month of the year and I sit here shaking my head wondering where April went! Here's all the updates on everyone!

Gord - is up and walking again! Yes, late in March, Gord received clearance to begin walking again. He pushed it a bit too hard the first day and strained his achilles tendon, but after a couple of weeks of taking it easy, he e-a-s-e-d back into the walking thing and has pretty much been without his crutches now for the better part of 4 weeks. Needless to say he's very happy! He still has a lot of rehab to do but he's mobile and just plain relieved that when he walked on the heel again, it didn't break! He's going through other joint pain from time to time, but all in all he's pleased with the progress.

Me - same old, same old. Work has been a combination of challenging and busy. We have very unfortunately been hit hard by this global economic downturn and are facing some pretty signnificant restructuring. I'll be okay through the end of the year at least and have my fingers crossed for beyond that. Needless to say, it's been stressful but I'm keeping a positive outlook on it and will control what I can control! I am very happy the warmer weather is here too! The pool is open (need some propane to warm it up though!) and the grass is green and that in itself can pick up any spirit!

Erin - she is great! She has grown a good inch over the past month or so and this is another reason to be happy for spring and summer because now all those pants that are too short for her can pass as capris!! As usual, Erin is leading her busy and delightful life with a skip in her step and a big smile! She has been busy with Sparks (she will miss this when it's done for the year!) and has recently started gymnastics, which she loves! She is taking it with a friend of hers so we have decided to make it a ritual - meeting for breakfast then heading to gymnastics. The girls love it! We were all lucky enough to get some sort of nasty stomach virus just before Easter. Erin was sick for 10 days - I kid you not. The strange thing is that she would be sick at night, then fine during the day for one or two days, then boom - sick again. She didn't miss much school or daycare and her spirits were wonderful. Cleaning up her room after a night of being sick took it's toll on me and I was next to be struck with it. Gord finally got it after the Easter weekend so complete the triple crown!

Speaking of Easter, Erin decided that since Grampa was coming back from Florida that she wanted him to visit for Easter - which he did! We had a nice dinner at Aunt Eleanor's and the Easter Bunny did not disappoint! Erin is counting down to Grampa's next visit, which will be when she graduates from Senior Kindergarten! How hard is that to believe?!!

We have also spent some fun times with the folks in the neighbourhood, with playdates, and dinners, and bonfires! We even went to see the new Hannah Montana movie! I have to admit, it was a pretty cute movie! It was just a 'nice' movie to see for a change. Erin loved it and is quickly learning all of the words to the 'Hoedown, Throwdown'! I'm sure that will drive Gord over the edge soon!!!!

We recently had a visit from Jo, Chris and the boys. The kids were outside for 3 solid hours and when it was time for them to leave, all the kids came out sporting huge smiles and covered in mud and horse poop! It was hilarious!! The kids loved it! I don't think I have ever spent that much time just chatting with Jo when the kids were around! You have to like adventurous kids with mud somewhere on the property to create some magic with (and washing machines!!!!)!!!!

Well, that's a quick update and will have to do for now. As for what's coming up - there are 3 more weeks of Sparks, followed by the big camping weekend. I have been asked to help cook for the girls that weekend, which means I'm camping too, and Erin is delighted! There is a year-end school trip planned to go to the Museum of Civilization later in May. I think I'll take the day off and volunteer to help. I have done that as much as I can and I really enjoy it.

Enjoy the pics!!
