The whirlwind that is life has swept another week away. it is officially September now, and so far the weather is wonderful! September brings some wonderful things in my little family's life:
On September 8th, our baby, turns 4. I can hardly believe it. Every day she grows more and more independent, knowlegeable, and sweeter (well, most days anyways!!).
On September 10th, Erin officially starts Junior Kindergarten. I'm trying to imagine who is going to take it harder, her or me. I am nothing but excited for her, and she is the same way, but even as I type this, I feel tears welling in my eyes thinking that yet another chapter is closing in her life and new exciting one is beginning. The tears are both happy and sad. Sad because I know Erin will only get more and more independent and need me less and less, but much more happy because she will now get to start exploring the world in a whole new way. I'm sure the day will be harder on me, bar none!!
The week that past us by was fairly uneventful. We celebrated Emily's 16th birthday (I can only imagine how Rita and Andrew feel about that!!) on Sunday, and the start of the week swept me away to Kingston for business, and of course a bit of shopping for Miss Erin!!! This meant a big week for Daddy and Erin. I was so happy to see her on Wednesday night though. I miss her so much when I don't get to tuck her in to bed at night. Friday we picked up Emily who babysat while I did some work from home for a few hours, then the three of us headed into Ottawa for some final before school shopping. I let Erin pick out most of her things, and I knew I was in trouble when the woman at the cash at Old Navy told her she had good taste and was a pro-shopper. Erin told her she liked to spend Mummy's money!!! Sigh......
Yesterday we took a day trip to Watertown. Gord wanted to pick up some waders before he heads up north for moose hunting. He has not been for a few years, so he is really looking forward to it. I as usualy hope he and his brothers and brother-in-law have a great time, but come home with nothing!!! I found a great pair of shoes for Erin, and a little zipped fleece jacket, so she is pretty much set now. It was pretty buys crossing the border into the US, but quiet coming back into Canada. It was a long day, but we all had a good time.
Today we have just been playing with playdoh (she loves the stuff - too much and way more than I like cleaning it up!!) and making curly pieces of paper, along with watching Dora the Explorer. We are off tomorrow as well and I suspect the day will be spent working on the basement renovations. One wall is down and a couple of others are coming out soon. We picked up the entry way flooring last weekend - some fabulous marble tiles! Very exciting!
Well, I am going to sign off. I'll put up a post after the birthday bash next weekend, and promise to include lots of pictures!
Until next time....
